Monarch Beach Resort, the Orange County, AAA Five-Diamond luxury resort that looks out on panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean, announced completion of a comprehensive $40 million renovation.

The resort had previously refreshed 400 guestrooms, and now has a new Miraval Life in Balance Spa, the first coastal location for Miraval.

Ian Pullan, General Manager of Monarch Beach Resort welcomes guests, members and neighbors to what he calls “our thoughtfully reimagined resort.” He says the resort, which captures the allure of Dana Point’s majesty, is “a perfect balance between luxury and approachability.”

The spa, which is a great attraction for the resort, has more than 70 signature treatments that were developed at the company’s flagship Miraval Resort & Spa near Tucson, Arizona. The center has 24 treatment rooms, a lap pool, spa suites, boutique, Drybar, Deborah Lippmann Nail Salon and “relaxation and tranquility zones.”

Spa memberships are also available for local residents.

Dining Experience

The resort’s dining experience also had a makeover, as well as retaining the signature Stonehill Tavern and award-winning Chef, Michael Mina. Five new dining concepts were added, led by Executive Chef, Collin Thornton. The restaurants feature fresh local produce.

The dining concepts include AVEO Table + Bar, a Mediterranean restaurant and bar elegantly designed by San Francisco-based Puccini Group. 33° North is a new social center with a contemporary cocktail bar, a living room salon, and an outdoor patio with fireside niches and live music. Part & Parcel Market, also designed by Puccini Group, is a neighborhood emporium that features snacks and healthy options. Club 19 is an indoor-outdoor gastro pub near the golf course, with “next-level bar food.” And finally, Sombra, a poolside cantina serves Mexican/American fusion dishes, with “healthy salads, vegetarian options and modern Mexican comfort food.”

The revamped resort has 400 newly designed rooms and suites, thanks to Rodrigo Vargas Design, based in Los Angeles. Every room and suite has a balcony with new patio furniture, and the first-floor balconies feature fire pits.

Golfers should be really happy, because the resort has the distinguished Monarch Beach Golf Links, designed by Robert Trent Jones, which Golf Magazine named “a Gold Medal Resort.”
