(AXcess News) Reno - Comedienne Ellen DeGeneres is rumored to be marrying her lesbian lover Portia de Rossi in a civil ceremony this weekend under California's new law that allows gay marriage unions.

DeGeneres, who nearly saw her career come to an end after admitting that she was gay, has since made a strong comeback and is once more on the national television scene.  But this weekend Ellen will be making a new scene happen if the rumors are true and will marry Rossi.

Ellen had said publicly in May that she would marry if the state of California passed its gay marriage law - and now that its out in the open - so are DeGeneres' marriage plans with de Rossi.

DeGeneres once again confirmed in June that she planned to marry her girlfriend when speaking to reporters backstage at the Daytime Emmy Awards, calling her marriage ceremony to de Rossi a "dream wedding".

Dream or not, Ellen DeGeneres is 50 years old and her lesbian lover, Portia de Rossi, 35, making their age difference a 15-year span of like or like not-minded lives, despite their open lesbian relationship.

"I think someday people will look back on this like women not having the right to vote and segregation and anything else that seems ridiculous that we don't all have the same rights," Ellen told reporters in June.

Ellen supposedly gave de Rossi a pink diamond ring for their engagement, though the carat weight is unknown.

While the comedienne joked about even inviting her gardner to the wedding, she never mentioned how her family felt or whether they would be there for the openly gay nuptial event.

Ellen DeGeneres will be wearing the tux, in case you're wondering - but will it be pink?
