From ditz to blitz, Britney Spears is back at this year's MTV Video Music Awards

Britney Spears nominated for three MTV Music Video Awards

(AXcess News) New York - Britney Spears was nominated for this year's MTV Music Video Awards after the singer bombed on stage last year, suggesting that her popularity is still strong with music fans, having gone from ditz to blitz as Britney makes her comeback.

Britney was in fact nominated three times for this year's MTV Music Video Awards, which includes Best Female, Best Pop Video and the coveted Video of the Year.

Last year, Britney Spears lipsinked her music video "Gimmie More" and bombed terribly.  But the pop singers fans flocked to her music with her new video for "Piece of Me", voting Spears in for three MTV Music Video Awards.  She's not expected to perform and most likely Britney won't blow it as it appears she's getting her act together - literally.

In a recent OK magazine interview, Britney Spears' first in more than a year, she seemed more in tune to her old self, or should I say, Britney didn't appear to be the fizzle-brained brat of an era where divorce, multiple stints in rehab, her head shaving ordeal and brain dead MTV performance seem to be behind her.

Spears told the magazine she didn't want her two sons growing up in the limelight of celebrity fame as she did, hoping instead that the Brit Boyz would have a more normal childhood.  That kind of comment sounds more like someone whose mind is more focused than the Britney Spears of only a year ago, who could only go off emotionally in an irrational manner.  I can only say, I hope I'm right as Britney Spears deserves a break in her life.

The now 26-year-old singer is back in the studio and working on new material.  Britney says she is spending a lot of time at her piano, inspiring herself.  In commenting on her new material, Britney was quoted as saying, "I think it is more urban. I'm writing every day, right here at the piano in this living room. This is my best work ever."

Britney Spears music fans will have to stay tuned to the MTV awards, which will be televised on September 7th, to watch Britney perform from her "Piece of Me" video - even though MTV has not confirmed it.

Promos of Spears being interviewed by MTV host Russell Brand show an awkward elephant traipsing around behind the pair with Britney acting as if its not there in a humorous pimp of last year's MTV bomb performance of "Gimmie More" as if to say, "I'm back and don't expect me to be an awkward fool on stage at this year's MTV Music Video Awards program."

Considering Britney Spears' draw power in viewership, MTV would have to be crazy not include the pop singer in the awards program performing lineup - even with the risk of her blowing her act one more time.  To advertisers, a bomb can sometimes be worth more than a win.  But MTV's holdup could be contract related with Spears still commanding top dollar, despite her ditz mishaps of the past.
