Scientology ties to Jett Travolta death?
By Alan Fein
(AXcess News) New York - Celebrity John Travolta and his family were vacationing in the Bahamas when his 16-year-old son, Jett, was found dead in a bathroom from seizures. Bahamian authorities have ordered an autopsy to determine the cause of his death.
But Saturday morning cable television news networks were implying that his death may have had ties to John Travolta's Scientology beliefs.
Fox News reported that Jett Travolta became sick when he was 2 with Kawasaki Disease, which causes inflation of the blood vessels in the hands, feet and some organs, such as the heart. This could induce seizures, but cable television news reports Saturday morning implied that John Travolta's son could also have suffered from autism and due to Travolta's strong Scientology beliefs, medical treatment would not be considered.
The implication by network news reporters on Saturday suggesting Travolta's Scientology beliefs stood in the way of Jett's parents properly seeking medical attention for their son's condition - what ever it may have been - is a new low in news coverage that seemed more bent on selling sensationalism for the sake of 30-second ad spots via the "stay tuned" pitch used to lure viewers than in reporting the news.
While I personally don't accept Scientology, John Travolta and his actress wife Kelly Preston do and the media should respect the family's privacy and personal grief at a moment like this rather than pushing sensational anti-Scientology implications as to suggest that Jett's death could have been prevented had the Travolta's not turned away from traditional medicine.
MSNBC had implied Jett may have been autistic, a condition which is not recognized by the teachings of the Church of Scientology.
CBS said medical treatment for Kawasaki Disease could have been withheld due the Travolta's Scientology believes.
The Travolta's had gone through a house-cleaning, sweeping their home clean various cleaning products and repeatedly have Jett's bedroom carpeting cleaned to remove toxins - so what? Even Teflon-coated pots and pans were found to have cancer causing chemicals emitted from their use and gas that's produced from products in the home, even carpeting and curtains, is said to be harmful to your health. But what the hell does that have to do with Scientology as it relates to Jett Travolta's death? Answer me that?
