Silicon Valley startup EdgeUno, which offers managed cloud and data center services, announced that it will be expanding into three new countries in South America with four new data centers.

The company, which focuses on Latin America, is opening two data centers in Brazil (Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo), one in Argentina (Buenos Aires) and Chile (Santiago).

These new data centers will help companies expand into the Latin American market by offering bare-metal hosting options with low latency and high availability.

With the new expansion, EdgeUno will have data centers in countries throughout the continent. Having multiple data centers in the region allows the company to offer bare-metal hosting and cloud computing services with ultra-low latency.

EdgeUno’s low-latency services are ideal for online gaming, content delivery and streaming services. Internet users in these countries are able to access large files more quickly and more reliably.

“In a region like Latin America, knowledge and understanding of the process is extremely vital for success and having a partner like us will help businesses go to market painlessly,” says Mehmet Akcin, EdgeUno CEO. “Because we are there on the ground and source everything in-country, we can go live faster and respond quickly if the hardware needs to be replaced.”

Akcin says that the new data centers “will allow companies to grow their elastic cloud and edge computing platforms horizontally and vertically.”

EdgeUno’s expansion highlights the growth of the cloud computing industry. New data shows that enterprises are prioritizing public and private clouds. This year, 45% of enterprises view hybrid cloud or a balanced approach as their top priority. Over the last year, the number of enterprises planning hybrid cloud strategies grew from 51% to 58%.

Data security is among the top reasons for going with a hybrid cloud approach. Highly confidential data is kept on premises, while externalized data is kept on a public cloud. The security options offered by hybrid clouds allow companies to enjoy the best of both worlds.

Additionally, a hybrid cloud approach allows for business continuity and disaster recovery. The private system may be the primary system for users, but in case of a disaster, users would fail over to the public cloud. The hybrid cloud may also help companies better deal with burst traffic and improve capacity planning.

In the case of EdgeUno, the company’s cloud services allow companies to easily expand into the Latin American market while taking advantage of all of the benefits of cloud computing.
