Summer is in full swing which means that there are a lot of activities that you can’t miss out on. Every part of the country has their special things that make a destination worth visiting, but in the heat of the summer, many places in the world are just not ideal because of the high humidity, heat, and bug problems.

This what makes California the perfect place to spend the summer months. Though California is noticeably hot during the Summer months, since the state practically expands the entire length of the west coast, there is a wide variety of weather patterns to choose from. If you like the heat and want to be one the coast, but you also want to enjoy wine country, you can. If you love wine, but would rather stay inland, that’s an option, too.

If you’re looking to live in wine country, or if you’re just a wine lover and are trying to figure out what where your next destination to taste wine is going to be, there are some cool things happening in wine country California in 2016 that you won’t want to miss:

The Gravenstein Apple Fair

In wine country, you have over 400 wineries and vineyards to choose from to visit, but that makes narrowing down the choices hard. You need something else to go off of. If you just so happen to really like apples as much as you like wine, you should stop by the Gravenstein Apple fair happening in August. The fair has been around for decades and is a favorite for people all over the place to visit. There’s music, fun for the kids, food, arts and crafts, and of course, all the wine you could think of as the fair takes place in the heart of wine country.

The Grape Stomp

Wine lovers are always looking for excuses to surround themselves with the stuff. They build themselves cellars to hold it, they decorate their houses with it, they smell it, they drink it…so why not make it and get your hands a little dirty in the process? CRU Wine Company allows wine lovers to do just this. For a small fee, people can literally help stomp grapes to make into wine. If that doesn’t sound like a good time, there’s no hope for you.

As if wine lovers needed an excuse to go to wine country and immerse themselves in the culture, it’s obvious that there is so much to do in addition to drinking the stuff. Though the summer festivities for 2016 might be over soon, there’s always plenty of time to plan for next year’s big events.
