(AXcess News) – Puggy, a Pekingese belonging to Becky Stanford of Texas has won the Guinness Book of Records for the longest tongue on a dog, measuring 4.5 inches in length.

The10-year-old Pekingnese had been left for dead by his previous owners, because of his tongue.

“People who meet Puggy for the first time do a lot of double takes,” said Stanford.

Stanford explained that his previous owners had abandoned him because of his looks. She said winning the Guinness World Record for the longest tongue on a dog was a “thrill” for bother herself and Puggy.

“From being a stray dog, being dumped, to being a Guinness World Record Holder is just phenomenal,” said Standord. “I just can’t believe it.”

While Puggy’s got the longest tongue on a dog record with Guinness, he can’t lick a Boxer named Brandy whose tongue is 17 inches long, though when comparing the size of the dogs, Puggy’s tongue measures up.

Brandy was not entered in the Guinness World Records contest for the longest tongue on a dog, though he has won plenty of contests himself.
