4 Current Event Topics That Are Sure to Get Your Blog Some Traffic

Please share this story:

In the world of journalism and news, its important to give people a story. If you are busy reporting on old events, people will tune you out, change the channel, or read another blog altogether. There is a lot going on in the world and perhaps everything is interesting to somebody, but if youre a writer who has goals to have a large readership, you have to talk about current events.

You also have to talk about the things that other people arent talking about. You have to say the things that others wont say. When you stir the pot and say things that are often left unsaid, it gets people interested. Some of the interest generated might be negative, and other people might rave about the fact that you were the person that said it; but in any case, any publicity is good publicity and means there is more money being put in your pockets.

To get you started, here are four current event topics that are sure to get your blog the traffic you desire.

The Presidential Election

This is a very heated time for the American people. When it comes time to elect a new president every four years, things often get heated and there is great debate back and forth from people who support or oppose particular parties and candidates. This election is different. There is a lot of hatred going around for both candidates. There is also a lot of support. If you want to generate views, say something new about the presidential election. Don’t be flippant with your words, however. Be well educated and versed and start a conversation that people want to be a part of.

Healthcare

Politics and medicine go hand in hand. Medical reform is, after all, one of the major focuses of a president and of a candidate who is hoping to get elected. People want to know that all of their needs are being met, so its natural that when policies are discussed that deal with medical care and things of the sort, that those discussions get a lot of attention. Once again, as a blogger or journalist, your job is to be well-informed and not just spout off opinions without any research to back them up; but if you talk about what is going on in the world of medicine today, people will read your stuff.

Drugs

People are, and have always been, fascinated by the things they can’t have. Drugs are the epidemic of our culture. Usage is high and people are always looking for new and different ways to get a fix that is going to give them an experience that is different than the one they’re having. If you talk about drugs, what people are doing, how they’re doing it, why they’re doing it, the problems its causing worldwide, or why you think that drugs should be legal, people will read what you have to say. They probably wont agree with everything you say, but as long as you engage in a dialogue and give people something to think about, you’ll be okay.

Lives Matter

Why its so hard for people to get the idea that all lives matter in their head is a topic that should be discussed by people with brains, but since that obviously isn’t the way it works, anybody who takes a stab at the movement is sure to get some press. There is a history behind the Black Lives Matter movement, there is a history behind the Feminist movement, there is a history behind any movement! Whatever it is you’re talking about, make sure that you have a sound opinion and learn how to debate. In the end, all lives matter, but if you’re looking for a current topic to dig your teeth into for some attention, you might consider talking about this one.
