Last week, on April 10, billionaire real estate developer Rick Caruso opened the Rosewood Miramar Beach Resort for guests at a formal ribbon cutting ceremony held at the property, with the likes of Rob Lowe among the 300 guests in attendance. Located in Santa Barbara’s Montecito community, Caruso owns the property which is managed by Rosewood Hotels and Resorts.
Rick Caruso took to the podium with his golden retriever Dodge in tow, talking about the 12-year long development process, proclaiming his love for the Montecito community, and thanking them for standing by him through the process.
The same strip of beach was the site of a fabled resort called Miramar-by-the-Sea. It was first purchased by a young couple in 1876 who built cottages to accommodate guests and to share with them the magic of Miramar.
Seán Carney, managing director of the Miramar Resort, said that he felt “privileged to continue the legacy of the former Miramar-by-the-Sea hotel and to bring to the Montecito community a new ultra-luxurious retreat that captures the magic of Miramar Beach.” Montecito local and actor Rob Lowe, during his speech, recalled his memories of the old Miramar before expressing his excitement for the new resort.
The doors were opened following the formal ribbon cutting ceremony, and the guests were led to the Great Lawn upon which great white letters spelled ‘Welcome Home.’ It was followed by a classy reception at the Miramar Beach Bar.
The Miramar Resort is a beautiful, ultra-luxury destination created for fashionable beach getaways on 500 feet of pristine, exclusive oceanfront. The resort offers 161 high-end suites and bungalows, 2 pools, the Great Lawn, a fitness studio, and 7 restaurants and bars occupying 16 acres of land.
This is Rick Caruso’s first foray into the hospitality business. He owns Caruso, a real estate company known for developing L.A. retail destinations like the Palisades Village and The Grove, and luxury apartment buildings and condominiums like 8500 and Excelsior in California.
Rosewood Hotels and Resorts operates 25 luxury properties in 15 countries around the world, and has 22 hotels currently under development. Their portfolio consists of renowned hotels and resorts like The Carlyle in New York, Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek in Dallas, and Hôtel de Crillon in Paris.
Rick Caruso has merged elegant architecture and design with Rosewood’s world-class guest experience on one of the most beautiful beaches in California to create a beach resort that is like no other. The Miramar Beach Resort offers a truly unparalleled experience.
