San Diego, California

There’s no doubt that San Diego has a lot of draw for families. In addition to expansive coastlines and white sandy beaches, you’ll find a plethora of activities for all ages to indulge in. There are theme parks such as SeaWorld and Legoland, as well as water parks where you can cool off on the hotter days of summer. You can hit the beach, or take the family for a hike on one of many trails scattered throughout the nature parks. Some of the best family hotels in San Diego are located right near the many attractions so you’ll never have to venture far to have fun.

Orlando, Florida

When you think family vacation, it’s hard not to think of Disney World. While that’s definitely the main draw to Orlando, there are plenty of other activities that make it a fun family vacation destination. SeaWorld and Universal Studios are two other theme parks, but if you want to skip them all together, you can visit Medieval Times and root for your team or hit the beaches and enjoy some parasailing or surfing.

Hawaii

If you’ve wanted to escape to the tropics, there’s no better way to do it than to visit the state of Hawaii. While it’s part of the United States, the culture is very different and will give adults and children alike a real taste of the island life. Take a tour and visit the active volcanoes, or partake in a luau, you’ll have a lot of fun. Plus, you can also do jet skiing, visit one of the many beaches that surround the seven islands and even bask in outdoor activities such as fishing. Just get some discount fishing gear and have at it.

Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona

If your family is less into theme parks and more into nature, you’ll definitely want to visit the Grand Canyon for a family vacation at least once in your lifetime. It’s better to visit in the off-season, rather than the peak season, otherwise, you’ll end up in large crowds that are drawn to the area during the summer months. Stick to the spring or early fall for the chance to really enjoy the views. Grand Canyon Village has a variety of restaurants and shops so you can eat and buy souvenirs for those at home.

Cape Cod, Massachusetts

While it’s known for its coastal attraction, there’s much more to Cape Cod than meets the eye. In Hyannis, you can shop on Main Street, ride the carousel, visit one of many restaurants and even sign up for a sea tour that shows off the beauty of the oceanside and all it has to offer. Take a ferry out to Martha’s Vineyard or head to Provincetown where you’ll find some of the best seafood Cape Cod has to offer and souvenirs you won’t find anywhere else.

When it comes to family vacations, choose an area where you can disconnect and simply enjoy the company of your partner and children. No matter where you decide to go, whether it’s one of the places on this list or another destination, make the most of your time and explore new activities.
